Under the volunteer program of The Friends of the Hospital, students can also play a role with patients. The program calls for periods of a few hours per week, after school or on Saturday or Sunday.

Their role: Help patients, especially the older citizens.

To do community work at the Hawkesbury & District General Hospital, a student must have the following pre-requisites and qualities:

  1. To be in high school, college or university and be able to speak and/or understand both official languages;
  2. To like older people and/or sick people and to be at ease with them;
  3. To be able to feed those who can't do it by themselves;
  4. To be mature, gentle, polite, discreet and responsible;
  5. To respect one's commitment;
  6. To consider the possibility of pursuing a career in healthcare.

If you want to do your community involvement activity at the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital, please take an appointment by dialing 632-1111, ext. 112. You must not come to the hospital without an appointment.
