By their abilities, their talent and their knowledge, volunteers bring a comforting presence and/or special touch in the following areas:

  • Patient Care
  • Palliative Care
  • Pastoral
  • The Gift Shop
  • Through clerical help and other support
The Friends also raise funds. These come from the sale of Nevada tickets and the sale of items from the Gift Shop they operate in the hospital. The funds raised must be used to promote the goals of The Friends in a manner approved by their Executive and the Foundation Board of Directors. The Friends are also responsible for the management of the vending machines in the Emergency waiting room. A few times a year, various activities like draws or bake sales are organized to collect the sums needed to purchase or replace medical or surgical equipment.

The Friends do not only make monetary contribution and do not only offer their services at the hospital. In the community, ladies also give their time freely to knit articles for newborns.

Volunteers generally work periods of 4 hours each, one half day per week. For services rendered, volunteers benefit from some advantages.
