Chiropody
Our clinic aims to provide a fully comprehensive foot health service for conditions affecting the foot and lower limb. No referral is required to see the chiropodist.
Chiropodists are foot care specialists trained to diagnose, assess and treat foot disorders, including those of structural or functional origin and those disorders associated with disease, infection or injury. They play a major role in the care of the diabetic and rheumatoid arthritic patient.
Current Services Provided:
- Management of children's foot conditions
- Orthoses, arch supports
- Prescription of appropriate medications
- Foot health education
- Foot healthcare clinics for diabetics
- Debridement of pressure lesions
- Treatment of foot ulcers
- Management of dermatological conditions of the foot
- Treatment of pathological nail conditions (including surgery)
- Ultrasound
- Biomechanical assessment of the lower limb and gait analysis
- Management of podiatric sports injuries
If the diagnosis requires additional medical care, referrals to the appropriate service or professional will be made directly or via your family doctor.
Management of basic nail care is NOT provided by the Chiropodist.
The Chiropody clinic is open Mondays and Wednesdays, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. All visits are by appointment only and can be made by calling (613) 632-1111, extension 349.
Patients who wish to reschedule appointments are asked to give at least 24 hours notice. Due to the heavy demand for the Chiropody service, patients who fail to attend two appointments without advising us will be discharged from the clinic.
The Ontario Ministry of Health funds the medical charges for chiropody. Orthoses and arch supports are not covered by OHIP or RAMQ therefore, a fee will be charged to the patient. Any queries in regards to billing should be made before treatment begins.
