Get Ready for the 2002 Radiotelethon
The hospital will undergo important changes in the coming years. For example, during the last Radiotelethon, donations made by the community have enabled several local patients, who received dialysis treatments in Ottawa to now be able to receive their treatments closer to home, at the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital.
The Foundation hope to use the money raised during the next Radiotelethon, scheduled for October 6, 2002, to help the hospital purchase teleradiology equipment. This equipment will enable radiologists to make diagnoses at a distance. Our radiology technologists will take x-rays of patients in the department and send the films by computer to radiologists in other locations. This equipment will eventually enable us to have access to radiological diagnoses at all times, thus ensuring the continuous operation of this essential service for our patients and our physicians.
We respectfully ask you for a donation towards your hospital.
Donations directed towards the purchase of teleradiology equipment can be made at any time. All donations for the 2002 Radiotelethon will be mentioned on air during the activity. Some donors will be invited to present their cheque on air on the day of the radiotelethon which will be broadcast on the community television channel.
The total cost of the equipment is $700,000. Our objective is to raise $120,000 during the Radiotelethon. That is the reason why your support is so important to us. Presently, there is a shortage of radiologists throughout Canada. Our hospital administration is planning ahead in order to offset this problem in future years.
Thanks for your support.
Thank You Mrs. Trépanier : Donation of $100,000
We would to like to most specially acknowledge the generosity of the following donors: Mrs Loretta Trépanier who passed away in the fall of 2000, has made a very generous gift to the Hospital Foundation. Having lived in Hawkesbury for a major portion of her life, Mrs. Trépanier has demonstrated her appreciation for the services received by our hospital by donating $100 000 to the Foundation. We invite everyone to come and see the donor wall at the hospital to read the special mention of honor that was inscribed.
St-Lawrence Textiles
Again this year, a local company has made a very generous donation. St-Lawrence Textiles, of Hawkesbury, has shown that it is a great corporate citizen. Last spring, the President, Mr. Allan Chamandy, and his employees gave more than $11, 000 to the Foundation through their involment in the Défi / Challenge (Walk-a-thon & Bike-a-thon). During the past few years, employees like France Poupart, Danielle Pilon and many others organized various fund raising activities to support our Foundation. They have contributed more than $30, 000 since their first involvement. Congratulations.
Rendez Vous Nissan
Rendez Vous Nissan has pledged their support till 2003. The main sponsor of our Foundation’s golf tournament, Rendez Vous Nissan, has confirmed its involvement for $20,000. Further more, The President, Mr. Doug Kego, will be personally involved in the organizing committee. This is a good reason to congratulate Mr. Kego when you see him.
The Friends of the Hospital
The Friends of the Hospital have formed a team of more than 100 volunteers who work continuously for the well-being of the patients. Their group also operates the hospital’s Gift Shop. This enables them to contribute year after year, tens of thousands of dollars to the Foundation. Please support your Foundation and shop at the boutique. Diane Carrière (Director) and her team of volunteers have accumulated $ 60 000 to date. Why not join the Friends and participate in the well-being of your hospital.
Golf and Curling Club
There is a tradition at the Foundation golf tournament and its the most generous contribution of the Golf and Curling Club. John Hunter and his board of Directors, represented this year by Mrs Janet Mallette, have contributed to the success of this activity by donating more than $30, 000 to the Foundation. This support for our hospital is greatly appreciated. Many more individuals have contributed generously to the Foundation. We want to sincerely thank all of our donors.
