Room for One More in Hemodialysis?

“I’m waiting for an opening in Hawkesbury” said Hawkesbury resident Gaétan Lortie, when interviewed in July. "I now have to take my hemodialysis treatments in Ottawa unless there is an opening when one of the Hawkesbury patients has to undergo an occasional treatment in Ottawa".

The Dialysis program finally opened in Cornwall and a patient residing closer to the Cornwall site was transferred to that program.

By the end of August, Mr. Lortie was now one of the lucky patients to receive all his treatments closer to his home. He says: “Dialysis is very hard on me, I’m dead tired after my treatment. I’m happy now that I no longer have to travel before and after each one.”
