Hemodialysis, A Major Change In My Life

“There’s nothing funny when your heart and your kidneys fail and you must spend the winter traveling to Ottawa for tests and treatments. My children had to take turns to drive me there and the long treks by car, 3 to 4 times a week made me sick to my stomach and totally exhausted me, ” says Jeanne d’Arc Myre.

Her life completely changed when she started hemodialysis. Now that she can receive her treatments in Hawkesbury, close to her home, she can be more independent. Even though she has bouts of depression, she feels fortunate and takes life one day at a time.
